Marvin Benjoya
Marvin Benjoya embodied private label’s best ideals and practices by virtue of his longstanding commitment to advancing the professionalization of the industry as a private label sales and marketing executive. His experience as a private label manufacturer began with Chase Products Co. in 1965 as Vice President, Private Label Sales for aerosol HBC, household, and paint product lines. He joined Evron Industries as Vice President, Sales and Marketing from 1972 to 1993, and helped pioneer a multi-level private label offering that would become a major supplier of private label toiletries to the food, drug and mass retail markets. In 1993, he became Vice President, Sales and Business Development, for Perrigo, where his responsibilities included representation to major trade associations, and from which he retired in 2003. In 1979, he joined a small initial group of private label manufacturers a recently formed PLMA. Over the next three decades, he would serve several terms as a member of the board of directors of PLMA, including, in 1989, his election to chairman of the board. In his years of service, he chaired or served on virtually every operating committee of PLMA.
