From 1981 until her retirement in two years ago, Myra operated every day at the center of PLMA’s mission to advance awareness for retailers’ brands while providing manufacturers, retailers and brokers a place to come together and explore private label business opportunities. She served as the key inside executive for ensuring that PLMA’s growing calendar of activities was executed professionally and successfully. Behind the scenes, she was responsible for annual budget planning, supervising financial controls, managing PLMA staffing needs to insure efficiency and productivity, and the daily coordination of operations between executive offices in New York and international offices in Amsterdam and eventually Shanghai. As private label grew from its step-child status in the 1970s to give rise to the store brands industry today, Myra’s work with PLMA helped everyone every day to push the transition along, step-by-step, but always inevitably forward.
