Ahold Delhaize has moved up its net-zero carbon emissions target by 10 years.
The Zaandam, Netherlands-based retailer plans to have its brands aim to reach net-zero carbon emissions across all its operations by no later than 2040 and to become net-zero businesses across their entire supply chain, products, and services by 2050.
Ahold Delhaize includes Stop & Shop, Giant Food, Food Lion, Hannaford, and FreshDirect, among others retail operations. Ahold Delhaize said its goals have been built on a climate strategy derived from Science Based Targets, as well as from research and recommendations from the Taskforce Climate Related Financial Disclosure.
